What is a fanlisting?
A fanlisting is simply an online listing of fans of a subject, such as a TV show, actor, or musician, that is created by an individual and open for fans from around the world to join. There are no costs, and the only requirements to join a fanlisting are your name and country. Fanlistings do not have to be large sites (although some are) - they are just a place where you can have your name listed along with other fans of the same subject. TheFanlistings.org is the original (but not official) web directory for fanlistings, dedicated to uniting the fans.

What is fanfiction?
Fanfiction (also commonly spelled as fan fiction and frequently abbreviated to fanfic or occasionally just fic) is a broadly-defined term for fiction about characters or settings written by fans of the original work, rather than by the original creators. Fanfiction usually describes works which are uncommissioned by the owner of the work, and usually (but not always) works which are not professionally published. Fanfiction is defined against original fiction, which exists with its own discrete universe, and against canon works within the universe. Most fanfiction writers assume that their readers have knowledge of the canon universe in which their works are based.
